Take a ride in a 2015 Mustang GT in Ford’s epic interactive track video

A 2015 Ford Mustang GT will set you back a cool $32,300, but you can take a digital ride in one today for free.

Ford has released a new video of the car to celebrate its European debut, but it’s no standard promo clip. Filmed in crystal clear 4K, the interactive, multiperspective film allows you to pan around the cabin as the pony car speeds around the Silverstone racetrack, giving you a unique 360-degree view of the action.

It goes further than that though, because thanks to a drone, you can switch to a top-down helicopter view of the lap, showcasing pro driver Paul Swift’s skills as he uses every inch of the Mustang’s 5.0-liter “Coyote” V8. There’s a front-facing perspective as well, and Ford says six GoPros, the aforementioned drone, and bumper-mounted cameras were necessary to compile the footage. We’ve embedded the basic YouTube video above, but the more immersive version can be found here.

“This video is a lot of fun, it makes you feel like you’re behind the wheel of a Mustang,” said Tom Barnes, Mustang vehicle engineering manager. “You have complete control of your view as if you’re actually driving on the track.”

The 2015 model year marks the first time the Mustang has been available for purchase in Europe outside of private company imports. Available as a fastback or convertible, buyers can choose between the 2.3-liter EcoBoost and 5.0-liter V8, which produce 310 horsepower/320 pound-feet of torque and 412 hp/386 lb-ft respectively. If you have your heart on a V6, we have bad news — the 300-hp powerplant isn’t making the trip across the pond.

When the car first became available to order abroad last year, the first batch of 500 units sold out in about 30 seconds.

Plug-in hybrids are becoming more popular. Why? And will it continue?
Kia Niro EV Charging Port

There's a lot of talk about the idea that the growth in electric car sales has kind of slowed a little. It's not all that surprising -- EVs are still expensive, early adopters all have one by now, and they're still new enough to where there aren't too many ultra-affordable used EVs available. But plenty of people still want a greener vehicle, and that has given rise to an explosion in hybrid vehicle sales.

That's especially true of plug-in hybrid vehicles, which can be charged like an EV and driven in all-electric mode for short distances, and have a gas engine as a backup for longer distances or to be used in combination with electric mode for more efficient driving.

Nearly all current owners of electric vehicles (EVs) are either satisfied or very satisfied with the experience, and 92% of them plan to buy another EV, according to a survey by the Global EV Drivers Alliance.

The survey of 23,000 EV drivers worldwide found that only 1% would return to a petrol or diesel car, while 4% would opt for a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) if they had to replace their car.
