Set seat heaters to maximum! Check out Bentley’s Bentayga app for the Apple Watch

If you’re going to spend $230,000 on a car, you expect it to go the extra mile. Not just in literal terms of course, but in the luxury sense as well, because for this amount of coin, your vehicle should basically act like a mechanized butler. It should come when you call, have everything you need in arm’s reach, and make sure every moment is optimized for your comfort. The Bentley Bentayga can’t do all that just yet (others can, though), but with its new Apple Watch app, it comes pretty close.

The British brand announced the new Bentayga app today. It allows customers to control various in-car systems from their wrist, both while inside the vehicle and remotely. Want the cabin preheated before you open the door, or your favorite song playing as you enter? Should the massaging seats already be going to melt away your stress? With the Apple Watch, all of this is now possible.

“The Bentayga is technologically advanced and combines this with luxury in a way only Bentley can achieve,” said Dan Whittaker, director of electrical and electronics at Bentley. “This new Apple Watch connectivity is another example of how we are constantly innovating in order to enhance the customer experience.”

Because it’s associated with Bentley, the app is based on “bespoke digital architecture,” one that emphasizes convenience and a sleek look. To use the app, users simply synchronize the Apple Watch with the vehicle’s Touch Screen Remote system via Bluetooth.

With a vehicle like this, most customers will hire a driver, ride in the back, and enjoy some of the top-shelf champagne and fancy cutlery stowed in the rear. That said, there’s a lot more to the Bentayga than opulence and connectivity, so for our behind-the-wheel impressions of the big SUV, check out our first drive report.

I bought an Apple Watch Series 10, and I’m surprised by how much I love it
The Apple Watch Series 10 sitting on top of a green bush.

There’s little doubt that the Apple Watch has become one of the most popular wearables. While it wasn’t the first smartwatch on the market by a long shot, Apple’s wearable seemed to find its stride more quickly than many of its rivals.

That’s not to say that the competition isn’t heating up. This year’s Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra are worthy contenders thanks to improved performance and new health features. Nevertheless, the Apple Watch has had a cozy lead, erven though it sometimes feels like Apple is coasting by adding only iterative improvements each year.

The Apple Watch Series 10 has ruined smartwatches for me
A person wearing the aluminum Apple Watch Series 10.

That’s it, the Apple Watch Series 10 has ruined other smartwatches for me. This week I will swap to another smartwatch I have to review, but I don’t want to take the Apple Watch off. It's wonderful.

I don’t want to use the word perfect because, of course, it’s not, but it’s very, very close to it. Prepare for some gushing over the next few hundred words, as I’m going to explain why if you’re looking for a smartwatch, the search can stop with the Apple Watch Series 10.
Why don’t I want to take it off?

I already damaged my Apple Watch Series 10
i already damaged my apple watch series 10 dt 1

I don’t think I’m clumsy, but I swing my arms a lot and still grimace every time a smartwatch on my wrist hits an immovable object. Yet, for all this movement, I’ve never managed to deeply scratch or lightly crack an Apple Watch display … until now.

The Apple Watch Series 10 doesn’t have many compromises over the Apple Watch Ultra 2, and I even made the switch permanently before this happened. It’s big, thin, and beautiful, but the Apple Watch Series 10 also uses a less durable protective shield for its display.
