CCrab concept electric car

Inspiration – it can be gathered from just about anywhere. From people to places, from the extraordinary to the banal — but in this instance, Juha-Pekka Rautio’s Citroen CCrab concept takes inspiration from the animal kingdom and its small Cuba Crab.

The CCrab concept was designed in conjunction with French automaker Citroen as part of a program that takes designers and provides them with feedback and access to various resources for their design concepts. For its part, Citroen is able to work closely with designers to help create and foster new designs for electric vehicles.

Although very much a concept, the idea behind the Crab was to create a vehicle that could move omni-directionally in and around the city, weaving effortlessly through traffic and in and out of tight spaces.

It might be a long way to go before we see anything like the CCrab on the production line, but with innovative designers and more automakers like Citroen stepping up to introduce new and exciting designs, it may only be a matter of time before we see a vehicle like the CCrab on the roads.

Genesis Neolun concept is an electric SUV inspired by tradition
Profile view of the Genesis Neolun concept.

Luxury SUVs have a familiar template: acres of leather, a high-end audio system, and some quality seat massagers. Unveiled ahead of the 2024 New York Auto Show, the Genesis Neolun, an EV concept previewing a future flagship SUV from the Korean brand, does things a little differently.

Like many traditional SUVs, the Neolun isn't small. But designers didn't try to hide its bulk and instead opted for a clean-and-simple design that, according to Genesis, is inspired by traditional Korean moon-shaped porcelain jars.

Genesis turns up the heat with GV60 Magma concept
Rear three quarter view of the Genesis GV60 Magma concept.

In just eight years, Genesis has become a credible rival to century-old luxury brands. But one thing that's been missing is a performance sub-brand equivalent to the BMW M, Mercedes-AMG, or even parent Hyundai's N. That's about to change — and performance EVs are part of the plan.

Ahead of the 2024 New York Auto Show, Genesis announced Magma, which will produce performance versions of the brand's cars. The name comes from the bright orange paint that will be Magma's calling card, which could be seen at the reveal on a Magma-fied version of the Genesis GV60 electric SUV, as well as the gasoline G80 sedan and GV80 Coupe SUV.
