Check out our review of the Dell XPS 13 ultrabook.

Dell’s XPS 13 debuted at last year’s CES and was one of the better premium ultrabooks on the market. However, its display was its one serious flaw. The XPS 13’s resolution of 1366 x 768 was quickly surpassed by a variety of competitors like the HP Spectre and ASUS Zenbook.

The display will be rectified later this month with a minor refresh of the XPS 13 that includes optional 1080p. The upgraded screen is an IPS panel and will provide both better viewing angles and a higher maximum brightness than the standard 1366 x 768 display.

No other major changes have been announced as part of the refresh. Processor options include Intel Core i5 and i7 processors with Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics. A 128GB solid-state drive is standard and can be upgraded to a 256GB model. One option that’s still missing is touch, but Dell offers the convertible XPS 12, which is similarly priced.

Pricing for the upgraded display is not yet announced. We expect it to fall between $150 and $200 on top of the starting price. Consumers will be able to grab the display upgrade in late January.

"Dell XPS, Dell XPS, Dell XPS," have been the long-muttered words of anyone covering laptops with Digital Trends. After all, what do you recommend for someone that doesn't have an iPhone and doesn't want one of the best gaming laptops? While our current listing of the best laptops is a bit more diverse, for the longest time you'd always find a couple of Dell XPS variants on it. And, for the reasons outlined above (plus a sleek keyboard and stylish design) the line remains incredibly popular. And if you want one of these popular laptops, now is the time to spring for the Dell XPS 13. We've found a pretty hot deal on a fantastic configuration that brings the price from $1,999 down to $1,599. That savings of around 20% or $400 is yours if you tap the button below, but keep reading for our experiences with the laptop.

Why you should buy the Dell XPS 13
The Dell XPS 13 is a solid machine with a futuristic look and sleek design. Our Dell XPS 13 review compares the laptop's keyboard (which definitely feels unique) to the MacBook Air's Magic Keyboard, with shallow but simultaneously "snappy and precise" keys. There is a reason why a Dell XPS 13, though not this exact version, got to be our pick for the best MacBook alternative to the MacBook Air. The configuration we received for testing was able to get in eight hours of video watching on loop, meaning this is a perfect small laptop to get you through your day.

Windows manufacturers have been hungering for a chipset that can keep up with Apple's very fast and efficient M3 architecture. Enter Qualcomm with its Snapdragon X and Intel with iLunar Lake. Each aims at providing better battery life with good performance, as well as adding faster on-device AI speeds to support Microsoft's Copilot+ PC initiative.

The XPS 13 9345 is among the first Qualcomm laptops and the Zenbook S 14 is the first Lunar Lake laptop that we've reviewed. This makes it an important battle to see which platform can make it to our list of the best laptops.
