You can save $140 on this awesome Asus Zenbook

It’s hard to go wrong with the 13.3-inch Asus Zenbook UX305UA. It’s built from the same cloth as its thinner cousin — the excellent Zenbook UX305CA — but packs more horsepower thanks to its Core i5 Skylake processor. In fact, just a few months ago we deemed this laptop the best ultrabook value on the market. Currently at $750, it’s the best price you’ll find for this laptop by $140.

Design-wise, the UX305UA’s matte silver metal exterior is elegant without being gaudy. It weighs in at a somewhat plump 3.2 pounds, which is about a half-pound heavier than its rival the Dell XPS 13, but the extra weight gives the system a nice, sturdy feel without any flex.

The UX305UA features a spacious, full-size keyboard accompanied by an equally generous touchpad that trumps some of the best Windows touchpads we’ve seen, including the smaller touchpad found on the XPS 13. In our tests, we noticed no trouble or delays when using the touchpad with Windows 10’s multi-touch gestures. One con is that the keyboard is not backlit, a small mistake for an otherwise stellar notebook.

The machine is fueled by a 6th-generation Intel Core i5-6200U 2.3GHz processor coupled with 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SDD. The 1080p panel is powered by Intel’s HD Graphics 520 chipset, which in our graphics tests performed on average with other Core i5-6200U-based notebooks.

Battery life is respectable for a machine with this CPU lasting about five and a half hours. On less strenuous battery tests the laptop maxed out at almost nine hours.

The Zenbook UX305UA has no serious weaknesses and at $750, it offers more pros than cons. In fact, most machines at this price range offer half the power of the UX305UA: such as a Core i3 CPU, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD.

Asus doesn’t hold back with the UX305UA and you’ll find it’s good to great in almost every area, including price. The next lowest price for this machine is $890 via Newegg.

Asus VivoBook 15
– $500, was $600

First on our list is the Asus VivoBook 15. It offers a good blend of performance and affordability with just a few hardware compromises to keep it relatively low cost (mainly its lackluster screen). Although made almost entirely of plastic, the VivoBook 15’s chassis is reasonably sturdy and resists bending when pressure is applied to it. Asus typically nails it in the keyboard department, and this laptop certainly won't disappoint fast typists, offering key action that's soft and squidgy with almost no “click” to the action. The touchpad is similarly excellent, large, and responsive and supports Windows Precision Drivers for accurate tracking. Unfortunately, it's hard to defend the VivoBook 15's 15-inch display. While the bezels surrounding it are slim and look thoroughly modern, it sorely lacks brightness and has terrible viewing angles. At least it’s good performance-wise. Powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, this laptop can easily rip through daily computing chores such as web surfing, document writing, spreadsheet calculations, and even media playback. However, battery life is just average. Under moderate usage, this laptop can barely keep up at just five hours tops. If you can look past its less than impressive display and battery life, the Asus VivoBook 15 is a solid budget option. Get it at Best Buy today for just $500 instead of $600 – a huge $100 worth of savings.

Get this RTX 4060-powered gaming PC for under $1,000 at HP
Internals of the HP Omen 35L.

If you’re looking for great gaming PC deals, head over to HP. While it might seem a more likely outlet for standard desktop computer deals, HP is great for gaming through its HP Omen line of gaming desktops. Right now, you can buy the HP Omen 35L gaming desktop for $450 off, meaning instead of paying $1,400, you pay $950. That works out as a 32% price cut, so it’s a pretty sweet deal. In part, this is due to the launch of the GeForce RTX 50-series of GPUs, but investing in a 40-series GPU is still a good option. Here’s what it has to offer.

Why you should buy the HP Omen 35L
HP isn’t a big name in the best gaming PCs world, but it has featured there in the past with its HP Omen range. With the HP Omen 35L, there’s a lot to like. It has a 14th-generation Intel Core i5-14400F CPU teamed up with 16GB of Kingston Fury DDR5 and 512GB of SSD storage. For the graphics card, there’s an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060. Understandably, none of this is top of the range, but it’s a good selection of hardware for $950.
