Whether you’ve seen something on a streaming service that you want to watch but it isn’t available in your country, or you’re tired of encountering “content not available in your region” messages, there’s a cheap and easy solution to your online entertainment woes: IPVanish. IPVanish is one of the best VPNs and a long-standing favorite of ours, and along with keeping you safe from online dangers, this virtual private network can also allow you to enjoy region-locked content from Netflix and other entertainment platforms. Sound interesting? Here’s what you need to know.

Virtual private networks are primarily used for privacy and security while using the internet, and while they’re great for that, VPNs have some other often-overlooked uses, too. How a VPN like IPVanish works is by routing your internet connection through remote servers that the virtual private network service operates. The connection is completely encrypted from tip to tail — in other words, from your computer (or whatever other internet-connected device you’re using) to the website or service you’re connecting to, essentially creating a “tunnel” of sorts that protects your online traffic and any data contained therein.

While the implications for privacy and safety are obvious here, connecting through the IPVanish VPN servers has the added benefit of letting you effectively mask the geographic location that websites and services see when you’re connecting to them. If you’re outside of the U.S., for example, you can connect to an IPVanish server located in this country, and any website or service you use will see this as your location. This allows you to effortlessly bypass region-based restrictions on content such as censored websites and streaming, especially streaming apps like Netflix which regularly enforces such limitations on its paying subscribers.

This works both ways, too, of course, and not just for Netflix. Users in the U.S. can connected to any of the 1,600-plus IPVanish servers across the globe to access similar region-locked and censored content, and there are many other sites and services that restrict access based on geography/ YouTube is a common one that springs to mind, and you’ve almost certainly encountered that annoying “Content not available in your country” error message before when trying to watch a video.

IPVanish is one of the top-ranked VPN providers in the world, but it doesn’t cost much — and this introductory offer for new customers makes it an even sweeter deal. New subscribers can sign up and get their first year of IPVanish VPN service for $29 right now. After that, the VPN package costs $90 per year, which only comes to $7.50 per month. You can also upgrade to the VPN + Backup package which adds automatic online data storage, lost data restoration, and remote device wiping for $32 for the first year (then $100 per year after that).

3 underrated Netflix shows you should watch this weekend (February 21-23)
Noah Centineo in The Recruit.

Netflix is proud of its ability to offer subscribers something new to watch at basically all times. Every weekend we get a new series, reality show, or movie. Sometimes, you get all three.
If you've struggled to actually navigate all of the stuff available on the streaming platform, you're not alone. That's why we've pulled together this list of three shows that are worth your time this weekend and should keep you hooked no matter what you're interested in.
We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.
The Recruit (2022-)
The Recruit | Official Trailer | Netflix
Noah Centineo has made his entire career working for Netflix, and The Recruit allows him to flex his unique charm. The series follows a CIA lawyer who gets drawn into the action after one of the agency's assets threatens to reveal herself unless the CIA helps her clear her name.
While plenty of spy dramas can be rather serious, dour affairs, The Recruit is lighter on its feet than many of those shows and easier to watch. While the show definitely has its moments of real gravitas, The Recruit won't make you feel like you're doing homework.
You can watch The Recruit on Netflix.
The Madness (2024)
The Madness | Official Trailer | Netflix
Colman Domingo should have been a star for decades. But like they say, better late than never. The Madness follows Domingo as Muncie Daniels, a media pundit who is forced to prove his own innocence after he stumbles upon a murder in the Poconos.
Crucially, though, The Madness is also about Daniels's crisis of conscience as he realizes that he no longer believes in anything. The series is riveting from front to back and includes all the plot developments and production values required for a limited series with a hooky premise and real ideas.
You can watch The Madness on Netflix.
Orange Is the New Black (2013-2019)
Orange Is The New Black - Season 1 - Official Trailer [HD]
Calling Orange Is the New Black underrated when it first aired would have seemed silly. The show was one of Netflix's first original series, earning plenty of awards and critical recognition at the time. In the years since, the show and its many groundbreaking elements have been far more forgotten than they should have been.
Telling the story of a public relations executive who is sentenced to serve time in a minimum security prison for her association with a drug dealer, the show was a remarkably bracing, often hysterical series about the realities of life in prison and the prison system more generally. The first few seasons are brilliant, and while it does fall off to some extent, it remained excellent throughout its run.

Feel Good (2020-2021)
Feel Good | Official Trailer | Netflix
A brilliant, semi-autobiographical love story starring and created by Mae Martin, Feel Good is simultaneously about modern romance and a single, hyper-intense relationship.
The series has a uniquely keen understanding of how sexual fluidity can actually make navigating dynamics more difficult, even as it focuses on the addictive nature of its central relationship. Feel Good is funny, sharp, and hopelessly romantic, featuring two central characters who just can't get enough of each other, even if they're not sure whether that's a good thing.
You can watch Feel Good on Netflix.
She's Gotta Have It (2017-2019)
SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT Official Trailer (2017) Spike Lee, Netflix TV Show
Based on Spike Lee's debut feature of the same name, She's Gotta Have It allowed the director to revisit the same story decades later. The series follows an independent woman living in gentrified Brooklyn who is trying to juggle three separate relationships, even as each of the men she's sleeping with tries to tie her down.
The show evolves and changes in ways the movie never could, but it remains a singular vision of living in New York today. Lee's vision remains singular, and She's Gotta Have It is one of the few mainstream shows to foreground the Black romantic experience today.
You can watch She's Gotta Have It on Netflix.
Sex Education
Sex Education Season 1 Trailer | Rotten Tomatoes TV
A singular, brilliant exploration of teen sex, Sex Education tells the story of the son of a sex therapist who decides to start doling out sex advice of his own to his classmates. As he helps his classmates have open, honest conversations about sex and desire, the show offers a markedly progressive view of what good sex should look like today, even as its central character deals with a romance of his own.
Throughout four brilliant seasons on Netflix, Sex Education managed to be a show about sex that was also about romance and understood the way those two things are always inextricably linked.
You can watch Sex Education on Netflix.

The Creator (2023)
The Creator | Official Trailer
Denzel Washington isn’t the only big-name actor in his family anymore. His son, John David Washington, has been making waves in movies, including this one. Washington plays Joshua Taylor, a U.S. Army sergeant tasked with an important mission to save humanity's future. The Creator is set in the future year 2065, a decade after an AI, created by the U.S. government, set off a nuclear warhead in Los Angeles, causing humans to rise up and fight back. That is, most humans. Some embrace the technology and believe it will be their salvation.
Joshua is brought in to help fight back and finds himself face to face with “Alphie” (Madeleine Yuna Voyles), a robot in the form of a young girl with tremendous power as an AI weapon. Our reviewer applauds the film's looks despite its budget, which is much smaller than other blockbuster movies. Though he admits the film’s premise is short-sighted and the movie is disjointed in places, he calls it visually stunning. It's a storyline that can and likely will be done again.
