It used to be the case that every new Pokémon game would include every monster from the games that came before it. With the total list now approaching 1,000 critters, it just isn’t possible to fit them all in a single game, mainline or otherwise. Following the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the next entry isn’t going to be generation 10 or a remake, but a new entry in the Legends game called Pokémon: Z-A. While a lot of details are still unknown, we’ve been picking through all the promotional material released so far to round up a list of all the Pokémon we can confirm are going to be included when it launches in 2025.

In the initial trailer alone, over 30 Pokémon have been spotted and identified, and we got even more with the second trailer. Here’s every one we were able to confirm, but we will not be including their evolutions (except for one specific Evee evolution that we spotted), which you should expect to be there as well:

Even among all the best Nintendo franchises, none can hold a candle to Pokémon in terms of sheer popularity. Originating on the Game Boy, this series introduced us to the world of catching, training, and battling amazing creatures that we are still hooked on to this day. What most people don't consider, though, is the order the games take place. People spend hours debating the Zelda timeline, so why not do the same for Pokémon?

There is a lot of room for interpretation here, but we did our best to work out the full chronological timeline for Pokémon as well as the more straightforward release date order. Of course, some upcoming Switch 2 games might disrupt this list in the future.

Nintendo’s next game is all about mastering NES classics

The physical version of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition.

Nintendo has announced Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, a new game coming out this July that tests players' speedrunning skills in NES classics like Super Mario Bros. and Metroid.

A successor of sorts to the NES Remix games on Wii U and 3DS, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition draws its name from a gaming competition Nintendo held in 1990 and then briefly again in the 2010s. Its reveal trailer features previous Nintendo World Championship contestants musing about the event, only to learn that it's returning in video game form.

The best horses in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

There are plenty of ways to roam the land of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild, but few are as well-developed as horse riding. Not only does the game let you tame a variety of horses found in the wild, but you can customize your horse by changing its saddle, bridle, and even its physical attributes. Toss in the ability to discover Malanya, the horse god, and there's a lot to unpack with this down-to-earth travel method.
