Facebook Gaming partners with Ubisoft, expands cloud services

Facebook Gaming announced that it is partnering up with Ubisoft to bring certain games to the cloud gaming service. This service will expand to the majority of the mainland of the United States.

Facebook Gaming is a service that allows users to stream games on their Android devices for free using cloud servers. Users can easily access the service using the Facebook Gaming app, which is found on the Android app store. Currently, there are over 25 games that users can stream for free, including Roller Coaster Tycoon Touch, State of Survival, and Lego Legacy Heroes Unboxed.

Facebook Gaming’s new partnership with Ubisoft allows certain Ubisoft games to be played on the service. Games include Assassin’s Creed: Rebellion, Hungry Shark Evolution, and Hungry Dragon.

The service’s expansion will bring it to approximately 98% of the United States. It is expanding out to some parts of Canada and Mexico as well. Facebook Gaming plans to cover all of the United States, Mexico, and Canada by fall.

This cloud service was released as a limited beta last year in October. Since then, it has been slowly adding more games to its collection. Currently, there are no subscription fee plans for this service. There is also no iOS version of this service due to Apple’s rules on storefronts inside of apps on its store.

With the announcement today, Facebook Gaming promises that the service will spread out to almost completely cover the mainland of the United States and some parts of Mexico and Canada. This should come fully in effect by the fall, with plans to roll out the service to Europe by next year.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity has a new name and no microtransactions

Ubisoft quietly confirmed new details on Assassin's Creed Infinity, a hub that's set to launch alongside Assassin's Creed Shadows, on the franchise's official Reddit on Friday. It not only revealed that Animus Hub would be the official name, but that the rewards would be free.

The post was in response to a datamined leak (since taken down via DMCA request) that purportedly revealed a lot of information about the Animus Hub and how it would integrate with Assassin's Creed Shadows. Along with revealing the new name, we learned that the Animus Hub would include a battle pass with cosmetics that can be purchased with Isu Coins, the in-game currency. This led to people assuming that there would be microtransactions involved.

Ubisoft to tackle ‘polarized’ comments as part of its new strategy

Ubisoft reaffirmed its efforts to move toward a more player-centric strategy for its games, while announcing that it's looking closer into "polarized" comments aimed at Ubisoft developers and games.

The publisher and developer has been internally working on changing some long-standing Ubisoft release traditions involving season passes, early access for certain preorders, and launching PC games on its own platform ahead of ones like Steam. It's already released Assassin's Creed Mirage on Steam since its original announcement, which involved delaying the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows from November to February to ensure it's polished. Star Wars Outlaws is also coming to Steam on November 21, along with its first DLC.

Ubisoft confirms it’s exploring new Rayman games following earlier reports

Ubisoft is looking into rebooting the Rayman franchise, a company spokesperson told Digital Trends following an earlier report about a potential series remake.

Team members from Ubisoft Montpellier -- many of whom had just worked on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown -- have teamed up with Ubisoft Milan to explore the possibility of new games. Milan previously worked on the Mario + Rabbids games, which most recently featured Rayman in the aptly named Rayman in the Phantom Show DLC.
