Is Rocket League cross-platform?

There are few games that embody “pure fun” quite like Rocket League. It’s not a hard game to understand: You drive a car, you hit a massive ball into the opposing goal, and the first team to score the most points wins. It’s that simplicity that makes Rocket League such an excellent game, though. No matter if you’re deep into shooters like Apex Legends or someone who likes to take a load off with Stardew Valley, Rocket League has something for you. But does it let you share that fun by being a cross-platform game? Let’s find out.

Is Rocket League cross-platform?

Yes, Rocket League supports cross-platform play across PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. No matter which platform you’re on, you can team up with or against friends online. Like Call of Duty: Warzone, players from all platforms enter the same matchmaking queue, so when you’re playing online, you’ll likely be playing alongside users on other systems.

Unlike Call of Duty, though, you don’t need an external account for crossplay. As long as you’ve updated your game since February 19, 2019, cross-platform play should already be enabled. All you need to do is start a match to play with other systems.

How to enable cross-platform play in Rocket League

Psyonix

Although Rocket League has cross-platform play enabled by default, it never hurts to double-check that you have the setting turned on. Alternatively, if you only want to play with players on the same platform as you, you can turn the feature off, as well. From the main menu, follow Options > Gameplay to find the setting. Look for a box labeled Cross-Platform Play and check it. If the box is filled, cross-platform play is enabled, and if the box isn’t filled, it’s not.

As long as you’ve enabled the setting, you can play with other platforms in public matchmaking, as well as private matches. If you want to play with your friends on other platforms, you can add them in the Friends menu like you would with players on the same platform as you.

This extends to cross-progression as well. As long as you link your Epic Games Account, you can transfer your rank, battle pass progress, and unlocks across all platforms.

Is Monster Hunter Wilds cross-platform?
Two hunters ride mounts in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Of all the genres that we think need to be on the list of cross-platform games, hunting games like Monster Hunter Wilds have to be near the top. These are a rather unique style of game compared to the likes of Fallout 76, Genshin Impact, or Stardew Valley. Each of those has cooperative or competitive elements to them that are enhanced by cross-platform support, but nothing like what Monster Hunter Wilds has going on. The game will allow you to call in NPCs to help you on the hunt, but these games are best when you get a group of real friends together and embark on an epic quest to slay a giant beast, scavenge it for parts, and return to camp victorious. Monster Hunter Rise eventually got cross-platform support once it was ported off the Switch, but will Monster Hunter Wilds launch with this feature? Here's what you need to know about cross-platform support in one of our most anticipated upcoming games.
Is Monster Hunter Wilds cross-platform?

Monster Hunter Wilds will only have partial cross-platform support. The good news is that the part that it will have is crossplay, meaning that you and friends on either PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC can all hunt together with no issues. This feature can be disabled if you wish, but will be enabled by default to make sure desperate hunters can always find some aid when in need.

It’ll cost $10 to roll over your Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp save
A logo that says "Welcome to Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Complete." There are a bunch of character interacting on a camp ground, with a rainbow in the background.

Nintendo has finally revealed Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete, the paid version of its long-running Pocket Camp mobile game that'll be the way to play after the company takes the older game offline.

While the seven-year-old free-to-play title will be removed from app stores on November 29, players can pay a onetime fee to roll over their progress and most of their data to Complete when it launches on December 3. This is a big break from tradition. Usually, when a game is taken offline, it's gone. At best, previous owners can still play it offline; at worst, it's unplayable forever unless it's pirated or emulated.

Is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 cross-platform?
A squad stands together in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Despite not every game in the franchise being one of the best Call of Duty games, entries are always among the bestselling games of the year. Thankfully,  Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 looks like it will be a return to form for the iconic shooter franchise, especially when it comes to multiplayer.

With competition in the shooter space being more fierce than ever thanks to free games like Apex Legends and XDefiant, Black Ops 6 will need to make sure it doesn't give players any reason to skip it. One major pothole it needs to avoid is not being a cross-platform game and only letting players compete with others on their own systems. This is the first entry released since Activision was purchased by Xbox, and while it will still come out on all platforms, will Xbox shut off cross-platform support? Here's what we know about Black Ops 6 cross-platform support.
