Persona 5 is the first game to leave the PS Plus Collection

PlayStation Plus subscribers have been treated to a few free games every month. That won’t change in April, but instead of just getting games, users will also lose access to one title. In what may be the first of many game removals, Sony is removing Persona 5 from the PlayStation Plus Collection.

For anyone who is already playing the game through PlayStation Plus or has previously claimed it, Persona 5‘s removal from the PlayStation Plus Collection isn’t an issue. Users who have already added the game to their library will still be able to access the massive JRPG. Likewise, anyone who adds the game to their library before April 5 will be able to access it as long as they have a PlayStation Plus subscription.

Still, Sony’s decision to remove a game from the PlayStation Plus Collection, a large library of titles PlayStation Plus users can download for free, is a strange one. It follows the company’s announcement that PlayStation Plus is going to be split up into three separate tiers. Subscribers to any of the tiers will still have access to the PlayStation Plus collection, though it seems like Sony is adapting the service to act more like Xbox Game Pass, which rotates new games in and out monthly.

It’s also not clear if Sony will give the larger catalogs of games that will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers the same treatment. Those users will have access to a large library of select games from nearly every PlayStation console. It wouldn’t be too strange if Sony decides to bring new games into that library while removing others.

This new Alien game will tide you over until Alien: Isolation 2

It’s hard to believe it has been over a decade since the release of Alien: Isolation. No Alien game since then has matched the intensity of its survival horror focus. Slowly creeping around a space station, only to be ambushed by a Xenomorph and engage in a cat-and-mouse chase in hopes of survival, is an exhilarating experience that no other Alien game has quite been able to achieve. Unfortunately, Sega and Creative Assembly did not immediately start work on a follow-up; it was only this year that we learned a sequel is in the works.

That Alien: Isolation sequel is still years away at this point, but thankfully, a different Alien game is here for players looking for another Xenomorph-filled first-person shooter. It’s a new VR game from Survios called Alien: Rogue Incursion, and it's your best bet for that Alien horror short of replaying the original Alien: Isolation as we wait for its sequel.

When you look at the best PlayStation 5 games, or even a list of the best video games of all time, odds are you will see at least one game from developer Naughty Dog. Our list of upcoming video games was already stacked prior to The Game Awards 2024, but the last announcement of the night added one more to the list that might beat out other heavy hitters like Ghost of Yotei and Wolverine. As this is coming from Naughty Dog, this is already one of our most anticipated upcoming PS5 game, but others might need more convincing. Stellar Blade gets a major holiday-themed update today

Stellar Blade is one of the biggest games on the PlayStation 5 this year, featuring absolutely gorgeous art design and a tough, varied combat system. Now it's getting a late-year update that brings all the joy of the holidays to the world of Xion, and that update lands on Tuesday, December 17.

PlayStation dropped the news in a blog post that detailed all of the coming changes. You'll first notice new background themes in your camp designed to create a more relaxing atmosphere and make you forget the stressors of the battlefield. There's also a new minigame to play, too.
