You don’t want to miss PS Plus’ great free game lineup this May

A new month is upon us, so another batch of PlayStation Plus Essential’s monthly free titles is nearly upon us. On May 7, four games will be available for no additional cost to PS Plus Essential subscribers: EA Sports FC 24, Ghostrunner 2, Tunic, and Destiny 2: Lightfall.

EA Sports FC 24 is the latest soccer game to come from the EA Sports brand. Historically, this series was known as FIFA, but EA had to rebrand it after its partnership with that organization ended. Despite that, EA Sports FC 24 is still very much an iteration of FIFA 23, so if you enjoy soccer games and don’t already own EA Sports FC 24, it’s worth a download. Next is Ghostrunner II, a thrilling first-person action game that launched last October. It’s the kind of game that makes you feel like a badass as you precisely platform and strike enemies before they can kill you in one hit.

Next up is Tunic, a former Xbox-exclusive indie that’s inspired by The Legend of Zelda and is intentionally cryptic with some of its storytelling and design. Fans of that kind of indie game should check this game out through PS Plus. Finally, Bungie is giving away the Destiny 2: Lightfall expansion ahead of the launch of Destiny 2: The Final Shape this June. If you’ve been sleeping on this MMO shooter for some time, the next couple of months are going to give you plenty of reason to hop back in.

All four of these games will become available through PS Plus Essential on May 7. Destiny 2: Lightfall, Ghostrunner 2, and Tunic will all be available until June 3, while EA Sports FC 24 will be available until June 17.

3 new PS Plus games you should check out this Labor Day weekend

It's Labor Day weekend, so you'll have plenty of extra time to play video games. Thankfully, tons of excellent games came to the PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra game catalog last weekend, so you have plenty of gems to choose from. Specifically, there's an underrated Ubisoft open-world game, a VR classic that's also available on PlayStation VR2, and a PS2-era shooter that just got a rerelease on PS4 and PS5 that are worth your time.

Watch Dogs 2 got a lot of flak because of Ubisoft's now-infamous style of open-world game design when it came out, but in retrospect, it's actually one of Ubisoft's best games released during the PS4 and Xbox One generation. It tells a compelling story about a group of outcasts taking on big tech in San Francisco, and there are lots of fun hacking and gadgetry tools at the player's disposal during gameplay that makes exploring and fighting in this open world entertaining. If you passed on Watch Dogs 2 when it came out because you didn't want to play yet another open-world Ubisoft game, consider checking it out this weekend. The PS4 version of Watch Dogs 2 is available through the PlayStation Plus Extra game catalog. It's also available on PC and Xbox One.

3 new PS Plus games you should play this weekend (August 9-11)

It's the first full week of the month, so three new games have just been made available to PlayStation Plus subscribers across all three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. These games aren't being tossed into the Extra and Premium game catalog indefinitely. Instead, PS Plus subscribers can redeem these games between now and September 2, and they will remain in your game library as long as you have an active PS Plus subscription. It's a solid batch of games too, so if you're looking for something to play this weekend, I'd definitely recommend checking out any of these three games.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the most ambitious Lego game TT Games ever made. It's simultaneously a vast Star Wars sandbox that players can play around in and a cartoonish retelling of all nine films in The Skywalker Saga. While I feel that these two halves of the game clash at times, there's no denying how giddy I felt exploring intricately recreated planets like Coruscant and Ahch-To, even if it was as a Lego version of Jar Jar Binks. It's kid-friendly, supports co-op, and features more engaging combat gameplay than any other Lego title. The PS4 and PS5 versions of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga are available via PS Plus throughout August. It's also available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S through Game Pass, as well as Nintendo Switch.

Sony is kicking off that trend a few days early with its annual Days of Play sale, which offers some major discounts on everything from recent hits to new releases.

This year's sale includes over 900 games, and there are a lot of great options. Of course, who wants to spend time scrolling through 39 pages of discounts?
