PS Plus is getting one of the best sci-fi RPGs ever this month

The February additions to the PlayStation Plus Premium and Essential were unveiled by Sony on Wednesday morning, and it’s a great batch of games for RPG fans. Thirteen games will hit the service on February 20, many of which come from Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Tales Off series. The most exciting addition for me is The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, which is the complete version of a fantastic sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment.

The Outer Worlds first released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in October 2019, while Spacer’s Choice Edition gave the RPG a next-gen upgrade in March 2023. It’s a choice-driven sci-fi RPG that takes place in a dystopic spacefaring future where corporations reign supreme. The adventure takes players to colonies in the Halcyon system, where they intervene in various conflicts and make lots of choices that shape the narrative. It’s less ambitious than a game like Starfield, but that gives The Outer Worlds a sense of focus that makes each decision feel more important. Add in some entertaining writing and a lot of leeway for player choices, and you have one of the best RPGs of the past several years.

Although it’s already on Xbox Game Pass because developer Obsidian Entertainment is now owned by Microsoft, RPG fans on PlayStation should still give The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition a shot ahead of its sequel. • The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition
  • Need for Speed Unbound

  • Lego Worlds
  • Lego Jurassic World
  • Tales of Arise
  • Tales of Zestiria

Jak and Daxter smirk at one another.

PlayStation Plus Premium is getting some new games for its Classics catalog for December, and as it's nearly time for the official PlayStation 30th anniversary, it's set to be big.

PlayStation announced the special additions to PlayStation Plus for December on Wednesday that includes three classic games: Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. The company also stated in the announcement blog post that they'll have "more news on the full PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Premium lineups later," which seems to indicate there will be even more games coming to the service.

3 new PS Plus games you should play this weekend (November 22-24)
The protagonists of GTA V pose for the camera.

This week, we finally got a massive batch of new games added to the PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra game catalogs. It's a fantastic bunch of titles, thanks to the inclusion of some AAA heavy hitters like Grand Theft Auto V, as well as great retro classics, and even some standout indies. As there's a wealth of games to choose from, you might be having some trouble deciding which ones to check out first. I'd start with any of these three titles, which are all among the best games on PS Plus.
Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V needs little introduction, as it's one of the most iconic and bestselling video games ever. If you haven't played it before, know that this is one of the most entertaining open-world games ever made, with a strong main story about three men drawn back into a life of crime. On top of that, there's its nearly infinite online mode. Whether you're concerned with actually completing missions or just want to drive around and mess with the citizens of Los Santos, GTA V offers some of the most fun sandbox gaming available. Grand Theft Auto VI is poised to release sometime in 2025, so now is the perfect time to revisit the last GTA title to better understand the high bar GTA 6 and every other future release from Rockstar Games will need to live up to.

Sony is about to introduce more ways to use your PlayStation Portal. The company announced that it's releasing a cloud streaming feature in beta that will let users stream certain games to the device without needing a console.

This is part of a larger PS Portal update that will also bring along audio fixes and be available starting Wednesday. PlayStation hasn't noted how long cloud streaming will be in testing for, but it's looking for user feedback and is expected to change features over time.
