Three new Star Wars games are in the works from Respawn

While it’s been known that the studio, which has become a powerhouse at EA since developing Apex Legends, is likely working on a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, today’s blog post has confirmed that. The two other Star Wars games in development at Respawn are a first-person shooter and a strategy game, the latter of which is being created in conjunction with Bit Reactor, a recently formed studio comprised of veteran developers.

Respawn’s unnamed first-person shooter Star Wars project is being handled internally, with development being headed by Peter Hirschmann, a game director at the studio. Having served as the vice president of product development at LucasArts for nearly six and a half years, Hirshmann’s history with the Star Wars franchise runs deep. In his position, Hirschmann assisted in the production of multiple Star Wars titles, including the cult classic Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Meanwhile, the Star Wars strategy game being developed at Respawn is a collaboration effort with Bit Reactor. Having been founded less than a week ago, Bit Reactor isn’t new to strategy games. Its team is comprised of developers from Firaxis Games, the studio behind the XCOM franchise. Bit Reactor is going to lead development on the game while Respawn acts as a producer.

With so many new games in the works, it’s worth wondering what will happen to Respawn’s other games, namely Apex Legends and the Titanfall franchise. While Apex Legends is far too successful for its development to be halted in any way, the same can’t be said for the Titanfall franchise, which has laid dormant since Titanfall 2 was released in 2016. For the franchise, which many have been hoping would return, Respawn’s pivot toward Star Wars titles may be the final nail in the coffin.

5 games we want to see running on PS5 Pro: Black Myth, Stellar Blade, and more

The PlayStation 5 Pro will launch in less than two months, and although it's not as technologically advanced as some hoped, it can still benefit many games. Many titles this generation have launched with shoddy performance on the PS5. Other games would also see a boon from making their already gorgeous visuals look even better with features like PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). So far, we've only gotten the names of 14 games that have confirmed PS5 Pro support, but there are several other games I'd love to see running on Sony's new console hardware. These five games, in particular, could truly benefit from being enhanced for the PS5 Pro.
Black Myth: Wukong

The biggest video game of 2024 has been Black Myth: Wukong, a Chinese-developed action game inspired by Journey to the West. It has found massive success across both PC and PS5, but currently, PS5 is the inferior way to play it. A Digital Foundry breakdown highlighted how Black Myth: Wukong encounters frame rate consistency and latency issues when attempting to run at 60 frames per second in performance mode on PS5. Having a stable frame rate and minimal input latency are musts for action games, so the fact that Black Myth: Wukong is struggling to have both on PS5 is telling as to why we need a mid-gen console refresh. If the PS5 Pro can make the game much more stable in performance mode, it can ride the coattails of gaming's biggest 2024 gaming breakout to great success.

All Nix Treasure locations in Star Wars Outlaws

The only one Kay can really count on in Star Wars Outlaws is her adorable alien partner, Nix. This little guy can help you solve puzzles, distract enemies, and even fetch loot so you don't have to go over and pick it up yourself. For everything he does for you, the least you could do is reward him with some cool cosmetics. Nix Treasures are among many collectibles found all over the various planets in Star Wars Outlaws, but these little trinkets can be traded to special vendors for new accessories for Nix. Of course, there's also a shiny Trophy in it for you if you find them all. Unlike other Ubisoft games where you can scan the city and ping every map marker at once, you need to do a bit more hunting to find collectibles. Here are all the Nix Treasure locations.
How Nix Treasures work

Nix Treasures are different from other treasures that you can just loot or lockpick. When you get close to one, Nix will scurry off and lead you to where he senses the loot. Being a nimble little alien, he will take a direct route that Kay can't, which will force you to look around for the right path. All are collectible from the start of the game without requiring any later game tools or abilities.

One of the most tantalizing distractions in Star Wars Outlaws is the Jet Kordo Holodiscs. After you find your first one and gain access to the Holotracker early on in the game, you will be teased with a hidden treasure from this legendary scoundrel that is just waiting to be looted. Unlock other treasures that you can just lockpick, Jet put a bit more thought into keeping his loot hidden from anyone unworthy of it. You will need to find six individual vaults across the galaxy before you can get the big score at the end, but it will all be worth it. If you're having trouble locating each vault, we'll put an X on your map so you can go right to them.
