Ghost Town Games, the small team behind the beloved co-op game Overcooked, has returned with a new game called Stage Fright. The trailer for this upcoming cooperative game was revealed live at The Game Awards 2024 in Los Angeles.

The studio behind one of the most successful indie games of the last decade has come back with another game you can play with your friends. But this time, it has a magical and spooky setting, with chaotic gameplay elements similar to Overcooked mixed with escape room-style cooperation.

Although it’s very different from Ghost Town Games’ fast-paced cooking game, Stage Fright is like Overcooked meets Luigi’s Mansion with a charming story. Overcooked never had much of a tale to tell, but Stage Fright’s story is touching and has “real heart,” according to publisher Hello Games.

Hello Games, the developer behind No Man’s Sky, eagerly decided to hop onto the project due to the publisher’s close relationship with Ghost Town Games since the creation of Overcooked. Three people — Phil Duncan, Oli De-Vine, and Gemma Langford — were behind the initial creation of the chaotic cooking co-op game.

Phil and Oli came to visit us for advice with the very earliest demo of Overcooked about 10 years ago,” Hello Games head of publishing Tim Woodley said in an email sent to Digital Trends. “We have such fond memories of the four founders of Hello playing that Overcooked demo, screaming at each other about onions — it was instantly obvious this was something special.”

Due to that history, Hello Games jumped at the opportunity to back Ghost Town Games’s next title. “Hello Games has a bunch of experience we can lend behind the scenes, support we can give, but if we’re honest, it really appeals to us to have fun working with a bunch of creative people we just love spending time with,” Woodley added. “When we played an early version of Stage Fright, we got the same buzz as we had with Overcooked all those years ago — it’s just something we wanted to be involved in.”

No Man’s Sky 4.0’s difficulty options make the space game feel new again
No Man's Sky warp drive

You’d think space was the final frontier, but 2016’s spacefaring exploration sim No Man’s Sky seems to keep finding new ways to expand and improve its eye-watering collection of features. What began as a quiet trek through a galaxy comprised of over 18 quintillion lonely planets is now a far more comprehensive game with a more sophisticated suite of gameplay options, including frontier towns to run, outlaw space systems to smuggle goods through, multiplayer missions to complete alongside your friends, and a fully-fledged story campaign to follow at your own leisurely pace.

It’s also recently been updated to its fourth major iteration as of October 7. That’s when developer Hello Games unleashed the 4.0 update, also known as the Waypoint update, coinciding with the long-awaited Nintendo Switch release. As a result of the 4.0 update, long-term No Man’s Sky fans were once again treated to an impressive array of improvements, including boosts to visual fidelity, better legibility within menus, and a noteworthy overhaul to inventory management that also left some players momentarily disheartened.

Where to find the cartographer in Emerald Stair in Avowed
Environmental shot of Galawains Tusks Slumbering Fields in Avowed.

You will probably have a good grip on all the tips and tricks needed to beat Avowed by the time you reach the second zone, Emerald Stair. However, no matter how many abilities you have or how good your gear is, finding a missing person with just a vague hint never gets any easier. We already helped Sanza find a missing cartographer in Dawntrail, but he has lost another in Emerald Stair and needs us to track them down. Like last time, the Avowed won't tell you where to go so we explored the entire region to show you exactly where to track them down.
Where to find the cartographer in Emerald Stair

The first cartographer quest at least gave you the general direction to find them, but this time we are only given the name of the area within Emerald Stair. The area in question is called Naku Tedek and is the isolated island on the south end of the map.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut - Announcement Trailer | PS5, PS4

Even before Shadows was announced, Ghost of Tsushima was touted as being the Japanese AC game that Ubisoft should have made years ago. While that is a reductive way to frame it, there's no denying there are similarities, and the two will be directly compared. Whether you plan on playing Shadows or not, Ghost is a magnificent game that still boasts some of the best graphics on PS5. Exploring the vibrant island of Tsushima as you follow the wind and animals rather than waypoints gives you a deep appreciation for the world you're fighting for. If you missed out on the Director's Cut content, jumping back in for the Iki Island DLC is perhaps the best part of the experience.
