Hisense has a little pre-CES 2025 teaser for us, and it looks like the company is taking a page from Sony’s home theater playbook. The new Hisense HT Saturn is a 4.1.2 Dolby Atmos “wireless home theater system” with four speakers and a single subwoofer, which uses a small HDMI ARC/eARC breakout box as a transmitter — a similar configuration to Sony’s Bravia Theater Quad.

Hisense hasn’t released pricing or availability for the HT Saturn yet.

Hisense has equipped the Dolby Atmos soundbar alternative with two features that should make it especially appealing to some Hisense TV owners: an automatic room calibration system that gives you flexibility of placement for the speakers, and in another move that mimics the Bravia Theater Quad’s S-center channel tech, Hisense’s Hi-Concerto feature lets a Hisense TV’s speakers share the audio duties with the wireless speakers.

These features only work with “some” Hisense TVs, but we haven’t received an official list of the compatible models.

The system itself is compatible, however, with any TV that has an HDMI ARC/eARC or optical output. It also works with Bluetooth and has an HDMI input. As with Hisense’s other soundbar offerings, you’ll be able to control and configure the HT Saturn using a Hisense TV remote, once again making the system feel much more integrated for Hisense TV owners.

The system also works with DTS:X and has a total of 13 speakers. Hisense hasn’t given us a breakdown of the kinds and sizes of drivers, other than the 6.5-inch subwoofer. It can be tuned using one of five available EQ modes, including presets for movies, music, sports, and more.

Our first chance to see and hear the HT Saturn will be at CES 2025, where we also expect to see Hisense’s latest TVs, laser TVs, and other audio and video products.

JBL reveals its new flagship soundbar at CES 2023: 15 channels and 1170W of Dolby Atmos power
JBL Bar 1300X Dolby Atmos Soundbar.

JBL has taken the wraps off its most powerful Dolby Atmos soundbar to date at CES 2023. The Bar 1300X follows the same design principles as the company's previous top-of-the-line Bar series soundbars, including the line's signature detachable, fully wireless surround speaker modules, and a wireless subwoofer. But the Bar 1300X brings even more sound and power to your TV room, with an 11.1.4-channel configuration and a massive 1,170 watts of total power. It will be available on February 19, 2023, for $1,700.

The JBL Bar 1300X boasts both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatibility, but what sets it apart from JBL's other Atmos/DTS:X soundbars is its six dedicated up-firing drivers, which will presumably do a better job of delivering the height channel effects that these 3D surround sound formats are known for. It also has the largest wireless subwoofer in the Bar range, with a 12-inch driver.

Platin Audio’s wireless home theater speaker system now handles Dolby Atmos
Platin Audio Monaco 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos WiSA system.

When it comes to getting a true Dolby Atmos home theater sound experience, your choices are pretty simple. You either buy an A/V receiver and hook it up to a bunch of wired speakers, or you go the soundbar route. But now there's a third choice, with Platin Audio's new Monaco 5.1.2 wireless home speaker system, which can be pre-ordered starting September 13 for $1,499, with deliveries beginning in mid-October.

The Monaco 5.1.2 includes two front speakers, two surround speakers, a center channel, and a subwoofer, all of which communicate via the WiSA system for wireless audio. This means that each speaker is independently powered and can be placed anywhere within the same room. The speakers get their signal wirelessly from the included WiSA Sound Send module, which can transmit eight channels of lossless audio at up to 24-bit/96kHz, with incredibly low latency, so audio sync problems shouldn't arise.

LG QNED mini-LED TVs, Dolby Atmos soundbars see big improvements at CES 2022
LG webOS in 2022.

LG's 2022 OLED TVs may get the lion's share of CES 2022 buzz, but having seen the company's new 2022 QNED mini-LED TVs in action, I believe they may be one of several sleeper hits of the show.

LG's already-competitive Dolby Atmos soundbars are also enjoying some improvements in 2022, with a new up-firing center speaker that could be mistaken for an Atmos channel, but which is actually aimed toward increased center channel clarity and presence. Let's dive a bit deeper.
