YouTube TV adds new Spanish plans

YouTube TV today announced a pair of new Spanish-language plans. One is an add-on to YouTube TV’s base plan, and the other is all Spanish all the time.

The separate plan — aptly named “the Spanish Plan” — costs $25 a month for the first six months and $35 a month after. You’re able to sign up for this package without requiring the $65-a-month base YouTube TV plan. It features nearly 30 Spanish-only channels.

If you just want to build on your existing YouTube TV package, the new Spanish Plus add-on is available for $15 a month. (It’ll cost you just $10 a month for the first six months.) Spanish Plus will add more than 25 Spanish-language channels. They include:

Spanish Plus can be added in the account section of the settings, available here. It lives alongside other add-ons such as Sports Plus, Entertainment Plus, 4K Plus — which you’ll need if you want to watch anything in 4K — and other premium options.

YouTube TV is believed to be the second-largest livestreaming service in the United States, with more than 3 million subscribers when it last gave an update in October 2020. (Hulu With Live TV likely still leads the way at 4.3 million subscribers.)

Hulu + Live TV might just be one of the best live TV streaming services out there, thanks to a combination of VOD, live streaming, and Hulu's massive content library. Hulu + Live TV offers much of the features and content you've come to expect from your cable package without tying you down in long-term contracts.

Hulu has been one of the most popular streaming services for years now, thanks to a richly assembled library of licensed content, alongside original programming like The Bear and The Handmaid's Tale. Since Hulu is owned by Disney, you can even bundle Hulu + Live TV with Disney Plus and ESPN+ for even more content.

Philo is now available on LG smart TVs

Philo is one of the least expensive live-streaming services out there. LG makes some of the most popular smart TVs. And now you get the former directly on the latter, without any additional hardware. In other words, there's now a Philo app available on LG smart TVs.

Philo sports 75 linear channels — and this year added AMC+ — for just $28 a month. So while you get around half as many channels as its competitors, you're also paying a fraction of the monthly fee. Old-timers will recognize that it's definitely more expensive than it used to be, having started at $16 a month, but it's also far less than what you'll pay for the likes of YouTube TV or Hulu With Live TV, and it's even less expensive than the most basic Sling package.

YouTube updates will help you sleep and speed things up

There are a million ways Google could improve the YouTube experience across all of its platforms. And today it announced a handful that aim to make how you watch on your mobile device, computer, and TV just a little bit better. The updates focus on playlists, interaction, playback speed — and maybe most importantly an option that'll keep you from waking up at 4 a.m. with Mr. Beast still doing whatever it is he does on your screen.

There are more than two dozen improvements on the way, Google says. Here's a quick look at the biggest of what's coming in the near future:
Sleep timer available to all
Sleep timer is graduating from YouTube Premium and rolling out to everyone on mobile devices. It's exactly what it sounds like — a method by which you can tell YouTube to stop playing at some point. You have a bunch of options for the sleep timer (maybe too many) and and choose whether to have videos stop after 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 minutes, or 1 hour — or when it hits the end of the current video.
