Move It Swift is a rhythm boxing workout for the home

Everyone wants to look good, but traditional workouts tend to be boring. Who really wants to lay on a sweaty workout bench and hold a heavy iron bar over your head, still slick with sweat from the previous user? No one, that’s who, especially as we continue to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Move It Swift offers an alternative method for getting in shape: Rhythm boxing.

Move It Swift presents working out like a game. The setup comes with an adjustable height trainer and two boxing gloves, as well as access to the Move It Swift app. It kind of reminds us on another recent in-home boxing setup, Liteboxer, which has a similar premise.

The Move It Swift Boxing Gloves are equipped with a six-axis motion sensor that allows them to measure a huge amount of information about your punch, including its force, speed, and the estimated number of calories burned. As you work out and use the training system, it will learn your style of boxing and provide more accurate feedback.

The gloves have interactive lights that change according to the intensity of your workout. Wondering how many calories you’re burning? Just glance at the lights. The changing colors also make your punches look distinct and add another layer of fun to the workout. When the workout is over, Move It Swift syncs the data to your mobile device so you can review your performance and your progress. It can also help you adjust your training data so that you can train smarter and more efficiently. There are optional courses available from the app that range in skill level from beginner to master. The courses cover things from the fundamental strikes in boxing to combination workouts aimed at improving your core strength.

If you’re the competitive type, you can set up your mobile device to monitor your workout. The Move It Swift App will automatically capture your best moments and allow you to share them across different social media platforms. You can also view your score and compare it on leaderboards.

The Move It Swift is currently on Indiegogo and is estimated to ship in October. As always, remember the risks associated with backing a crowdfunded product. If you’re looking for a way to get in shape before next summer (or you just want a way to box at home without another person), the Move It Swift brings music and boxing together into a single workout.

Ring Protect rebrands to Ring Home and adds 24/7 recording
The Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 installed near a door.

Ring owners seeking to unlock everything their devices have to offer are likely familiar with Ring Protect Plans. By paying a monthly fee, you can access features such as 180-day video history, snapshot capture, and smart alerts. Today, Ring has officially rebranded Ring Protect to Ring Home -- and it’s gained some cool functionality while still retaining the same pricing structure.

Previously offered as Ring Protect Basic, Protect Plus, or Protect Pro, you’ll soon be greeted with Ring Home Basic ($5 per month), Home Standard ($10 per month), and Home Premium ($20 per month). All that’s changed here is the name, as your monthly payments will remain identical to the old Protect Plans. However, you can now add individual services to the Home Standard and Home Premium Plans -- so if you want to tack on a Virtual Security Guard or Alarm Professional Monitoring, you can do so for an extra fee.

The next Apple HomeKit device could blend HomePod, iPad, and AI
Apple HomePod 2023

Apple HomeKit has always lagged behind Alexa and Google Assistant, notably lacking a smart display similar to that of the Echo Show 15 or the Nest Hub. Rumors suggest that the company's next gadget might rectify that. MacRumors reported code found in Apple's backend that referenced something called HomeAccessory17,1. That might not seem like much to go on until you realize that HomePod is similarly named AudioAccessory.

There are still too few details to make any definitive conclusions, but we can venture an educated guess that the upcoming device might be powered by the A18 chip and feature AI-focused features. Apple already has plans to integrate OpenAI and Siri. Adding AI-powered intelligence into a smart home system would potentially give it never-before-seen functionality — perhaps even more than what Alexa can currently offer, although Google Assistant's use of Gemini could level the playing field.

Home Depot expands Hubspace with a smart door, smart lock, and other cool gadgets
The new Hubspace smart door and smart lock.

Home Depot held its Hubspace Fall Preview event today, showcasing a variety of smart home products arriving later this year. One of the coolest new additions to the catalog is the Smart Glass Door by Feather River Doors, as it lets you toggle between clear or opaque glass via voice commands and syncs with most smart home platforms. Home Depot also revealed a smart lock, smart freezer, string lights, and home alarm system -- all of which are fully supported by the simple-to-use Hubspace app.

The Smart Glass Door is undoubtedly the most unique item in the upcoming collection. Pricing starts at $798 with a launch date of September 30, and it’s looking to bring some seriously cool features to your home. The big allure is the central glass pane, which can quickly change between clear and opaque styles using voice commands or a physical button. That means you can activate clear mode when you want a bit of sunshine, then swap to opaque mode for privacy. Beyond Hubspace, it integrates with Alexa and Google Assistant.
