The Wyze Scale X is just $34, while the newer Wyze Scale Ultra is $44. Both are available in either black or white, though note that the newer Wyze Scale Ultra is already running into inventory issues — at the time of writing, the white model was sold out and Wyze had a limited number of black models remaining.

The Wyze Scale X and Wyze Scale Ultra both feature a premium ITO-coated glass surface, but there’s one big advantage for the Wyze Scale Ultra — a massive 4.3-inch display. This full-color display allows you to quickly see a variety of different data without the need to open your mobile companion app. By comparison, the Wyze Scale X has a fairly standard LED display that’s more closely aligned with traditional scales.

Metrics

Both the Wyze Scale X and Wyze Scale Ultra can measure the following health metrics:

  • Weight
  • Heart rate
  • Body fat percentage
  • Lean body mass
  • BMI
  • Muscle mass
  • Muscle mass percentage
  • Visceral Fat
  • Basal metabolic rate
  • Bone mass
  • Metabolic age
  • Protein
  • Body water percentage

All of these measurements can be viewed on the Wyze Scale Ultra’s display except for heart rate — which must be viewed via the app. With the Wyze Scale X, only weight and body fat percentage can be viewed on the scale itself. So while both devices measure the same metrics, reading these measurements is easier on the Ultra.

Additional features

Beyond the gigantic display on the Ultra, the newer smart scale also supports Wi-Fi connections, allowing you to check your data remotely through the Wyze app. Aside from that, most features are shared across the two devices. This includes support for up to 400 pounds, an ITO-coated glass surface, and specific modes for pets, babies, and luggage.

The Wyze Scale X does have one slight advantage when it comes to battery life, as it’ll last up to 22 months with Power Saver Mode compared to nine months for the Ultra. Most shoppers, however, will find the additional features of the Ultra to be much more compelling.

Winner: Wyze Scale Ultra

Verdict

The Wyze Scale Ultra is undoubtedly the better smart scale. Thanks to a vibrant display that largely removes the need for your smartphone, it lets you quickly track all your important stats. Toss in support for Wi-Fi, and you have a well-rounded smart scale — not to mention that it’s only a bit more expensive than the Wyze Scale X.

Of course, if you don’t mind using your smartphone, sticking with the Wyze Scale X could save you a few bucks. And since it’ll last longer, you might save a bit of cash on batteries over the years. It looks every bit as premium as the Ultra, though there’s no denying the 4.3-inch display on the Wyze Scale Ultra is a pretty cool feature for a scale.

The Nuki Smart Lock Ultra is the fifth generation of Nuki’s popular smart lock, and with previous generations performing well overseas, this one is finally getting a U.S. release. Slated to arrive in Europe later this year and stateside in early 2025, the Nuki Smart Lock Ultra is aiming to be one of the fastest -- and most stylish -- smart locks on the market.

The first thing you'll notice about the Nuki Smart Lock Ultra is its striking design. The stainless steel smart lock exudes luxury, and it’s more elegant than most smart locks available today. With an LED indicator and little else, it’s a streamlined device that should look great on most doors.

The Wyze Scale Ultra in white.

Wyze is responsible for some of the best smart scales on the market, with products like the Wyze Scale, Wyze Scale S, and Wyze Scale X gracing its catalog. All these give you an easy way to track a variety of health metrics -- including not just weight, but also body fat, heart rate, and body mass index (BMI). Its catalog is growing a bit larger today with the Wyze Scale Ultra, which takes everything great about these past products and pairs them with a gigantic new display.

The Wyze Scale Ultra takes the same measurements as the Wyze Scale X, but it now offers a 4.3-inch full-color TFT display. That makes it easier than ever to check all your health data without needing to pull out your mobile phone and check the companion app. It’s highly customizable too, so whether you want to check trends in your weight or see multiple stats at once, this smart scale is more versatile than most others on the market.
