Pricing and availability revealed for the ZenWatch 3 and ZenFone 3 from Asus

The Asus ZenWatch 3 was announced quite a while ago, however not much was said about when and where the new device could be purchased. Well, if you were waiting for the time to snag the new smartwatch for yourself, now is the time — pun intended.

Not only is the ZenWatch 3 available, but the ZenFone 3, which was available in some markets over the summer, will also soon have a much wider availability. Unfortunately, the pricing of the device is a little higher than what was previously expected.

The ZenFone 3 will be available in all of its many variants. The first device is called the ZenFone 3 Laser, and it has a Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch 1080p display. It will be available for $200 and can be ordered from the Asus website.

Next up is the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, which has the same display as the Laser, but adds a Snapdragon 625 chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. You will need to shell out an extra $200 for the Deluxe, as it comes with a price tag of $400.

The next phone in the series if called the ZenFone 3 Deluxe 5.7, which kicks things up a notch to the Snapdragon 820, 6GB of RAM, and a 5.7-inch display, along with the same 64GB of storage. This phone comes at a price of $500.

Last but not least, is the top range ZenFone 3 Deluxe 5.7 Special Edition, which is a Snapdragon 821 processor along with 256GB of storage and the same 6GB of RAM. Of course, as the top-range device, you will really need to shell out the cash for this phone. It comes at a price of $800.

Apart from the ZenFone 3 line, the ZenWatch 3 is also available. While the device is not as cheap as the ZenWatch 2 was last year, it is still relatively cheap compared to other smartwatches on the market, coming in with a price tag of $230.

You can buy or pre-order the ZenFone 3 smartphones now from the Asus website and the ZenWatch 3 will be available for pre-order in early November.

The Pixel 9a has been officially revealed, and while it's an eye candy, there are some visible cutbacks over the more premium Pixel 9 and 9 Pro series phones. The other cutbacks we don't see include lower RAM than the Pixel 9 phones, which can limit the new mid-ranger's ability to run AI applications, despite running the same Tensor G4 chipset.

Google's decision to limit the RAM to 8GB, compared to the 12GB on the more premium Pixel 9 phones, sacrifices its ability to run certain AI tasks locally. ArsTechnica has reported that as a result of the cost-cutting, Pixel 9a runs an "extra extra small" or XXS variant -- instead of the "extra small" variant on Pixel 9 -- of the Gemini Nano 1.0 model that drives on-device AI functions.
