eMusic Signs AT&T Download Deal Want to have music on your cell, but hate the mainstream chart sounds? There might be something to tickle your fancy. eMusic has announced a new service withAT&T to let people buy music via their cell phones. The difference is that eMusic only deals with independent labels, not the majors who have deals withother cell phone companies. This means they can reach people on the musical fringes. The tracks will work on Samsung and Nokia handsets used by AT&T, and gives users access to most of the 2.7 million tacks sold by eMusic.

It won’t be cheap at $7.49 for five tracks, but the cost is largely because of the expense involved in sending them over a mobile network. However, there is a bonus – buyers will receive a free copy of the song they can download as an MP3 via computer. eMusic already has a deal with AT&T where customers can sideload their phones with tracks via computer.

“We think there are customers that are ready for eMusic, but they haven’t heard of it yet,” said David Pakman, eMusic’s president and chief executive. “We’ve focused on making this easy to use.”

The new AT&T/eMusic deal does not extend to AT&T’s new attention-getting handset, the Apple iPhone.

At the present moment, Google's Pixel 9 preorder deals are some of the best. For starters, you can get a trade-in value from your old phone equal to up to $760 if it qualifies. Then, get store credit (which can be used on a case, Google earbuds or watches, etc.) between $100 and $350, depending on the version of the Pixel 9 you buy. (Note that this store credit deal will continue for a short while after the pre-order is over, but is definitely a favor to the early purchase crowd.) Finally, buying a Pixel 9 phone from Google and signing up with Google Fi Wireless, their cellular plan, and get an extra $500 back on your phone bill over the next two years. Google also mentions that you'll receive a free year of Google's AI service, Gemini Advanced, for a full year with the purchase of the phone, a $239 value, but a look at the fine print shows this offer will be in effect until well into 2025 and, as such, isn't exactly a pre-order deal.

The Apple Music Replay feature gives you a rundown of which songs and albums you've listened to on the service every year. But now, it's getting a makeover that will make it more handy. Rundowns are being offered every month, allowing you to see your favorite tunes during the past 30-plus days — as well as how often you've listened to those titles.

The new monthly Apple Music Replay feature is only available through the web on the Apple Music Replay website, which is unfortunate, but unsurprising. The annual Apple Music Replay launches every December and is also a web-only feature.
