Exploding iPods And iPhones?

Most recently it’s been a French teenager who was injured when his girlfriend’s iPhone exploded. But lately there’s also been a report from the UK of an exploding iPod Touch, while KIRO TV in Seattle found 15 people complaining of burns and fire-related iPod incidents.

According to Marie-Dominique Kolega, who spoke to AFP, her French son was hit by the iPhone, which made a hissing noise prior to exploding.

"My son was frightened but he did not lose an eye," she said, noting she’d contacted Apple.

Meanwhile, according to The Times, Ken Stanborough in England said his daughter’s iPod Touch also made a hissing sound before shooting several feet into the air. He contacted Apple about the incident, and claims the company said they’d give him a refund – but only if he signed an agreement not to discuss what happened.

KIRO TV in Seattle has had reporters trawling through a Concumer Product Commission document, according to The Register, and it came up with some 15 fire and burn-related iPod incidents. The station claims Apple has tried to suppress the report.

Google has given its Family Link toolkit for parents a comprehensive update, making it easier for parents to manage phones and wearables belonging to their children. The redesign has introduced a Screen Time tab, while features seen on wearables for kids, such as School Time and contact approval, are coming to Android.

Family Time’s new look makes it easier to manage linked accounts, add content filters, and set privacy restrictions. A new tab called Screen Time has joined the workflow, showing usage times and app information, along with historical data much like Google’s Digital Wellbeing layout and features in Android. Parents managing more than one child’s profile can easily swipe between them, and multiple devices are managed on a single page.

It has been a busy week for news regarding the Google Pixel 9a. More information about its design surfaced just days after the likely colors for the new budget phone leaked.

In exclusive news, Android Headlines has released official renders of the new phone, which is expected to be announced on Wednesday, February 17 in just one week. The images reveal that the rear camera system on the Pixel 9a is designed to be flush with the back of the phone. This contrasts with the other Google Pixel 9 series models, such as the Pixel Pro XL, which feature a protruding camera bar.
