iOS 15 bug recorded a ‘small portion’ of Siri interactions

Apple has brought a lot of changes to its devices in the iOS 15 update with the new Focus taskbar, Live Text, the redesigned Safari browser, and more. However, the company has noted that the transition to the newest software hasn’t been entirely smooth. Some users who opted out of Siri and Dictation’s ability to record their voices for service improvements were recorded anyway.

Despite giving iOS users the ability to opt out of the service, recordings of unconsenting users were made and sent to Apple as the result of a bug in iOS 15. The bug has since been fixed as of the iOS 15.2 update, and Apple addressed the issue by saying that it deleted “audio received from all affected devices” in a statement to ZDNet. In the same statement, Apple said that the bug turned on the Improve Siri and Dictation setting on unaware iOS users, but the company has turned the setting off again for those affected.

The tech giant hasn’t clarified how many users were impacted by the bug other than saying that it had to fix the issue for “many” users. As a result, it seems as if all who are updating to the latest iOS software will be asked again if they want to allow Siri and Dictation to record their voices. Participants in the iOS 15.4 beta tests have confirmed that the newest software asks users once more if they consent to the recordings.

Any iOS users worried about being recorded due to the bug should check to ensure that their devices are up to date with the latest iOS 15.3 update and update to iOS 15.4 once it becomes widely available.

If you've followed any of the previous iPhone 17 leaks, then you likely read that the camera is supposedly getting a redesign that makes it look more like a Pixel than an iPhone. The phone is still almost a year away, so many rumors are just hearsay with no confirmation at this point. Now, a new leak suggests that while the iPhone 17 Pro will see a change, the camera module will remain triangular.

According to tipster Setsuna Digital on Weibo, the camera won't undergo as drastic a redesign as previously believed. "My sources told me that the back has indeed changed, but the triple-camera layout is still a triangle, not the horizontal strip that is currently circulating online." The majority of leaks so far have been from different companies within the supply chain that manufacture different parts for the iPhone 17 Pro.

One of the big selling points of the iPhone 16 hardware is the Camera Control button. It’s a small physical button on the bottom right of the frame that also has some capacitive capabilities. With the initial launch of iOS 18, a single press launches your camera app of choice, and you can do half presses and sliding gestures to adjust camera settings. It’s a neat idea, but it has some flaws that prevent it from being a great shutter button.

Although the iPad mini has continued to receive updates and support, it's fair to say it hasn't gotten the same level of love as the iPad Pro. However, that could be set to change, as the next iPad mini is expected to launch in 2026 with a new OLED display.

That's not all, though. Both the iPad Air 11-inch and 13-inch models could also receive the same upgrade in 2027 (adding weight to a previous leak). Then there's the rumored foldable iPad with an 18.8-inch display, according to a report from analysts at Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC).
