CES 2024 is right around the corner, but that’s already old news — it’s time to start talking about Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024! Why? Nothing just confirmed it’s holding an event during the giant tech conference in February, and this could be where we get our first look at the Nothing Phone 3.

In a press invitation sent by Nothing, the company teases that it will have “Nothing to see” on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, during MWC in Barcelona. You can see a picture of the invitation below. In the email accompanying the invite, Nothing also says it will have “something special” to show off.

Although the Nothing Phone 3 isn’t mentioned anywhere in the invitation, there’s very good reason to believe this is where we’ll get our first look at the phone — or at least some sort of teaser. At MWC 2022, Nothing teased a prototype of the Nothing Phone 1. At MWC 2023, we got confirmation about the processor for the Nothing Phone 2. Nothing has set a precedent that MWC is where it talks about smartphones, and considering the company is already hyping its MWC 2024 plans, a Nothing Phone 3 appearance seems like a safe bet.

There have also been rumors that Nothing is working on a Nothing Phone 2a, which is reported to be a cheaper, more budget-friendly version of the flagship Nothing Phone 2. If that phone is actually in the works, it could also make an appearance at Nothing’s MWC event.

Of course, the other possibility is that Nothing will just announce something silly and unrelated to its smartphone business. The company’s been on an odd path this year, releasing clothing and beer as odd marketing stunts. There was also the whole fiasco around Nothing Chats. It’s hard to pin down exactly what Nothing will do next, but given the company’s history with past MWC showings, my bet is on the Nothing Phone 3.

Details on the Nothing Phone 3 (and the Nothing Phone 2a) have been few and far between so far, but we’re bound to hear more from the rumor mill as we get closer to MWC.

Samsung just teased two folding phones we can’t wait for
A person holding the open Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Foldable phones, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, are gaining in popularity. However, their high prices may deter many potential buyers. Samsung seems aware of this issue and plans to eventually introduce foldable models aimed at the lower end of the market.

On X (formerly Twitter), leaker @Jukanlosreve says that a Samsung executive recently highlighted the need to expand the reach of foldable phones. In a conference call, they noted that the company is “considering ways to lower entry barriers so that more customers can actually experience foldable products, given the high satisfaction among existing foldable users.”

This amazing phone glows in the dark and was created with the help of fans
The Nothing Phone 2a Plus Community Edition's glow in the dark elements

Nothing has launched the Nothing Phone 2a Plus Community Edition, a phone created with the help of its fans. The project began in March 2024 and gave motivated members of the brand’s fan base a chance to help shape a future phone release based on the existing Nothing Phone 2a Plus. The result is an epic glow-in-the-dark phone that puts an interesting spin on Nothing’s trademark Glyph lighting motif.

There were four stages to the project, each focused on a different part of the phone’s design, starting with the hardware. The winning concept for the Community Edition's look was based on “phosphorescence,” and various elements under the transparent rear panel on the phone have been specially coated to give them a soft glow-in-the-dark finish. It’s powered by nothing other than light, and the glow will last for hours before fading.

We just got an early tease for Samsung’s next folding phones
Samsung Galaxy AI on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Samsung, like most other phone manufacturers, sticks to a pretty predictable schedule: a new numbered iteration per model per year. That's why we weren't surprised to hear that a Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 were slated for 2025, but we now have confirmation. Their codenames just leaked, and we also learned of an unexpected third model.

GalaxyClub broke the news after receiving information from Samsung. According to the site, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is code-named B7, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is code-named Q7. There's also a third model with the code name Q7M, but it's not clear what this entry actually is. Since it bears a derivative code name, this handset is likely a spinoff of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 — though we don't know what that entails.
