Dexter: Original Sin unveils first teaser and release date

Witness how Dexter Morgan became a killer in the first teaser for Dexter: Original Sin. The prequel series will stream to Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, December 13. It will make its on-air Showtime U.S. debut on Sunday, December 15.

“I’m a killer, but I wasn’t born this way. I was made,” Michael C. Hall says in a voiceover. Hall, who played Dexter on the flagship series, will narrate the inner monologue inside Dexter’s head. Patrick Gibson plays Dexter in the prequel series.

Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter (Gibson) as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department. Dexter shifts from an emerging student to a vigilante serial killer. Dexter develops “The Code” with his father, Harry (Christian Slater), to control his murderous ways. The Code is Dexter’s rules for determining who lives and dies.

Dexter: Original Sin also stars Patrick Dempsey as Captain Aaron Spencer, Molly Brown as Debra Morgan, James Martinez as Angel Batista, Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, and Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt. Special guest star Sarah Michelle Gellar will play Tanya Martin.

Produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios, Dexter: Orignal Sin is executive produced by Clyde Phillips, the showrunner of Dexter seasons 1-4.

Dexter aired for eight seasons from 2006-2013 on Showtime. Seven years later, Hall returned as the titular serial killer in Dexter: New Blood, a limited series set 10 years after Dexter’s finale. Instead of making a second season of New Blood, it will become Dexter: Resurrectiona new series with Hall returning to star.

Smile 2 streaming release date announced at Paramount+

Paramount+ is adding some horror to the holiday season. Smile 2 will be available to stream exclusively on Paramount+ starting Tuesday, December 3.

The announcement could not come at a better time. In honor of Cyber Monday, Paramount+ is offering discounts on the Essential plan and Paramount+ with Showtime. Both plans only cost $3 per month for the first two months. Starting in the third month, Essential, the ad-supported plan, moves to $8 per month, and Paramount+ with Showtime, the commercial-free tier, increases to $13 per month. This special deal ends on December 4.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s Disney+ release date moved up

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is arriving earlier than expected. The eight-part series will debut with a two-episode premiere at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Monday, December 2. Subsequent episodes will be released on Tuesdays at the same time, with the season finale airing on January 14, 2025.

Disney also announced the directors for each corresponding episode. Series co-creator Jon Watts will helm episodes 1 and 8. The Green Knight's David Lowery directs episodes 2 and 3. The Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), the Oscar-winning duo behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, direct episode 4. The remaining three episodes will be directed by Beef's Jake Schreier (episode 5), Bryce Dallas Howard (episode 6), and Minari's Lee Isaac Chung (episode 7).

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is finally heading to streaming. Tim Burton's legacy sequel will make its streaming debut on Max on December 6. Then, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will make its HBO linear debut at 6:10 p.m. ET on December 7.

Thirty-six years after 1988's Beetlejuice, Burton explored the next chapter of the Deetz family in the sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. After an expected death, the Deetz family returns to Winter River for the funeral. Still haunted by Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton), Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) begrudgingly returns home with her estranged teenage daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega). In the attic, Astrid discovers a model of the town and accidentally gets pulled into the Afterlife. To save her, Lydia will have to face her fears and elicit help from Betelgeuse, the ghoulish demon who tried to marry her when she was a teen.
