Everything coming to Amazon Freevee in May 2023

Who says the best things in life aren’t free? With subscription prices for streaming services on the rise, it can be hard to find quality entertainment at a fair price. YouTube has some free movies, but in general, major streamers like Netflix and Apple TV+ require a fee to access their digital treasures.

That’s not entirely true with Amazon though. For consumers who don’t want to pay the Prime rate for movies and TV shows, it offers an alternative: Freevee, an ad-supported option that has a plethora of top-tier movies and shows, from dramas and comedies to sci-fi and thrillers. Like any other streaming service, titles come and go, so keep reading to find out everything coming to Amazon Freevee in May 2023.

Four teen boys stand in a hallway in My Friend Dahmer.

It's nearing the end of May, and school is either out or about to be done, and some lucky folks are considering what they'll do for summer vacation. You could travel to another state or country, play some video games (I hear Lorelai and the Laser Eyes is pretty good), or even do some yard work. Here at Digital Trends, we're celebrating the onset of the summer season the only way we know how: by watching lots of movies.

If you're looking to stay home and fire up your Amazon Prime Video streaming queue, we've prepared a handy list of three underrated movies you should check out this weekend. One is a classic thriller, one is a tense crime drama that you've probably never watched, and the other is a chilling film about the teenage years of one of America's notorious serial killers.

Albert Finney and Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich.

This month, the three best dramas on Amazon Prime Video are all Oscar winners for their respective stars: Philip Seymour Hoffman, J.K. Simmons, and Julia Roberts. They're also excellent examples of the drama genre itself, even among Prime Video's deep library of titles.

Two out of the three picks for dramas on Amazon Prime Video that you have to watch in May are biopics, while the other is one of the most intense music school stories in recent history. Beyond the Academy Awards that the films took home for their stars, all three movies are captivating motion pictures that deserve to be on your watch list this month.
