Everything coming to Max (formerly HBO Max) in November 2023

Rap Sh!t Season 2 | Official Trailer | Max

November is here, and Max is celebrating with a pretty interesting and diverse lineup of movies, TV shows, and nonfiction programming. But don’t fret, the streamer still has past hits like Our Flag Means Death, The Gilded Age, Doom Patrol, and The Last of Us available to all subscribers.

Max’s November 2023 schedule includes the debut of the new Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory) show Bookie, the season 2 debuts of Rap Sh!t and Julia, and the streaming launches of the documentaries Albert Brooks: Defending My Life and Little Richard: I Am Everything. Max in November is the place for anyone who likes a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

3 great Max crime dramas you should watch in February 2025
Zoe Kravitz stares in Kimi.

Few streaming services have a deeper lineup of great movies than Max. In addition to plenty of regular new release movies, the streamer also has an archive with tons of Warner Bros.'s best projects and other all-time classics.
One part of Max's deep bench of interesting movies is tons of crime titles. We've pulled together a list of three great crime movies that are all available on Max now. Two of these movies are from the recent past, while the third is an all-time classic that might feel especially poignant right now. Here are three great Max crime dramas you should watch this month.
We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.
Kimi (2022)
KIMI - Official Trailer | Watch on HBO Max 2/10
A smart, whip-fast thriller about an agoraphobic young woman who begins to suspect that she heard a crime being committed while listening in on an Alexa-like device, Kimi is anchored by Zoe Kravitz's central performance. The movie's clever structure, which uses both the pandemic and the actual streets of Seattle to tell its story, will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Director Steven Soderbergh is no longer trying to make perfect movies. Instead, the Oscar winner makes incredibly fun and zippy thrillers like Kimi. It might be a little rough around the edges, but Kimi is better than most of what you'll find on Max.
You can watch Kimi on Max.
The Fallout (2022)
The Fallout | Official Trailer | HBO Max
A heartbreaking, all-too-real drama, The Fallout follows two girls who become close friends after they go through a shared experience of a school shooting. The movie is really about how they handle the trauma, and it only works because Maddie Ziegler and Jenna Ortega deliver star-making central turns.
The Fallout is about the world we've given our teenagers, one where those who don't die at the hands of a shooter are forever changed by what they've seen. It's a bracing, difficult movie that is well worth your time.
You can watch The Fallout on Max.
Blue Velvet (1986)
Blue Velvet Official Trailer #1 - Dennis Hopper Movie (1986) HD

David Lynch may be one of the greatest American directors ever, and Blue Velvet was the moment we fully understood what his career would be like. The movie stars Kyle MacLachlan as a normal kid who slowly becomes ensnared in the criminal underground of his seemingly normal town.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (February 7-9)
A group of young adults walk on the grass in Final Destination 2.

This weekend is one of the few cases where the arts take a backseat to sports. Super Bowl LIX will be played on Sunday, February 9. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will play for the right to call themselves champions. Over 115 million viewers are expected to watch Super Bowl LIX. More people will watch when you consider that the Big Game draws big crowds around one television.

The Super Bowl is Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. ET. Until then, what should you watch? Max has an excellent lineup of prestige dramas, hilarious comedies, action thrillers, and frightening horrors. While the Max homepage is a great resource, many movies are hidden within each genre. The three movies below represent under-the-radar picks that can be equally as satisfying as the noteworthy titles.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (January 31-February 2)
Sebastian Stan puts his arms down and stands over.

What's on Max this month? Uncharted, the adventure film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, is currently the No. 1 movie in the top 10. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, The Accountant, Dune: Part Two, and The Batman are some of the top blockbusters on the service. Don't be surprised if the Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings franchises find their way to the homepage.
There are more options on Max besides blockbusters. Scrolling through the genre pages, you'll see hundreds of underrated gems ready to be streamed. Our recommendations this weekend include a Nicolas Cage satirical drama, a psychological dramedy with a Marvel star, and a hilarious comedy from 2010.
We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.
Dream Scenario (2023)

At TIFF 2023, Oscar winner Nicolas Cage shared the five best scripts he's ever read in his 45 years as an actor. Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona, Vampire's Kiss, Adaptation, and Dream Scenario. Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, Dream Scenario stars Cage as Paul Matthews, a family man and professor at the local university.
