Inception (2010)

Leonardo DiCaprio watches a top spins in Inception.
Warner Bros.

Earlier this week, Interstellar celebrated its 10th anniversary. Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi space adventure sparked heated debates with more questions than answers. Four years prior to that film, Nolan forced audiences to contemplate the polarizing ending of Inception, which involved dreams versus reality.

Before the controversial ending, Nolan crafted an excellent sci-fi movie that boils down to a dream heist. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his partner, Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), are thieves who enter people’s dreams and steal their information. Japanese businessman Saito (Ken Watanabe) hires the duo to do the impossible: plant an idea in someone’s mind, aka inception. Saito promises to wipe Cobb’s criminal record in return, allowing him to see his children again. Let the brain-buster begin.

3 great Hulu movies you need to stream this weekend (February 7-9)
Denzel Washington in He Got Game.

When picking selections for the weekend ahead, we don't tend to do so by year. But by a fluke of the February release schedule, all of our selections for the three great Hulu movies that you need to stream this weekend were released in theaters in 1998. And they couldn't be more different from each other.
Our first selection is a powerful father-and-son drama from director Spike Lee, while the second features one of Oprah Winfrey's performances. The final selection is a classic comedy that caused quite a stir when it was originally released, but it may seem relatively tame nearly three decades later.

Colleges are so eager to sign Jesus that the governor of New York briefly releases his estranged father, Jake Shuttlesworth (Denzel Washington), from prison just to convince Jesus to attend the governor's alma mater.

A group of football players stand with their coach.

This weekend welcomes one of the year's biggest sporting events, the Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will play in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana. The game is a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, which saw the Chiefs defeat the Eagles by a score of 38-35. This time, the Eagles will try to avenge their loss and prevent the Chiefs from winning three consecutive Super Bowls.
The Super Bowl is typically the most-watched TV event of the calendar year. Even if you don't like football, many consumers tune in for the entertaining commercials. To get ready for the game, FAST services have a wide selection of football movies to stream for free. Our recommendations include a comedy about a team of replacements, a 1990s comedy, and an underdog story.

The Replacements (2000)

Everyone likes a good redemption story. For the players in The Replacements, this is their shot at becoming football heroes. Due to a players' strike, the Washington Sentinels are left without a team. The Sentinels must win three of their final four games to make the postseason. Sentinels owner Edward O'Neil (Jack Warden) hires former coach Jimmy McGinty (Gene Hackman) to lead a team of replacement players for the rest of the season.
McGinty accepts the deal and forms the team his way. The centerpiece of the new squad is quarterback Shane Falco (Keanu Reeves), a former All-American whose career went downhill after choking in a big game. With Falco as the leader, McGinty fills in the rest of the squad with rejects and no-names. However, the team eventually comes together and bonds over their shared disappointments. Who knows? Maybe a team of bench guys can become legends.

3 great free movies to stream this weekend (January 31-February 2)
Nicolas Cage puts his fists together in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Much to the surprise of many, Mark Wahlberg playing a bald, unhinged villain worked as Flight Risk grabbed the top spot at the domestic box office. The Mel Gibson-directed thriller came in first place with $12 million, followed by Mufasa with $8.7 million and One of Them Days with $8 million. This weekend should be another slow venture at the box office unless Companion and its intriguing AI premise can win audiences over.

Thief (1981)

When examining Michael Mann's filmography, most fans will have Heat or The Insider at the top of the rankings. Heat, the terrific crime thriller starring James Caan, falls immediately below that tier. Noted for being Mann's feature film directorial debut, Heat gets Caan at the end of his decade-long run as one of Hollywood's biggest stars.
Ex-con Frank (Caan) has transitioned into a jewel thief post-prison. Despite his lavish lifestyle, Frank wants to abandon his criminal past and start fresh as a family man. Enter Jessie (Tuesday Weld), his new girlfriend, and a ticket to a normal life. Frank plans to execute one more score for his gangster employer, Leo (Robert Prosky), and get out. Unfortunately, Leo has other plans and will do whatever it takes to keep Frank as his top thief. Mann loves his troubled men, and Cann plays the perfect tough guy searching for a better life in this invigorating thriller.
