The colorful weirdness of Marvel’s The Eternals is coming in November 2020

Following the massive success of Avengers: Endgame which wrapped up phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios is already lining up the start of phase 4. Today saw an announcement at San Diego Comic-Con that the next installment in the Marvel franchise will be The Eternals, based on the comics about ancient immortal beings who were created to protect humanity from the demonic Deviants.

Legendary comic artist Jack Kirby created the concept for The Eternals in the 70s and they have been strongly associated with his bombastic style ever since. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s take on his creation promises to be “full Jack Kirby” so we can hope for bright colors, epic cosmic landscapes, and plenty of psychedelic weirdness.

Although they are a more obscure group than A-list Marvel names like the Avengers or the X-Men, the Eternals have been referenced in the Marvel movies before. In Avengers: Endgame, Thanos is referred to as “son of A’lars.” And in the comics, A’lars, also known as Mentor, is a member of the Eternals.

The cast for the new movie is appropriately star-studded, lead by Game of Throne‘s Richard Madden as Ikaris and Angelina Jolie as Thena. Other cast members include Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, and Don Lee.

The movie will also feature the first deaf actor and character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Avengers’ Hawkeye is deaf in the comics, and Marvel has attracted some criticism for not portraying his disability in the movies. So perhaps this is a step towards mollifying fans and improving the movies’ inclusiveness. Salma Hayek spoke about feeling proud of the diversity of the cast.

The movie is directed by Chloe Zhao and is coming to theaters in November 2020.

What’s new on Disney+ in April 2025

It's a rare month on Disney+ when the streamer has new episodes of a Marvel and a Star Wars series. But April is one of those rare occasions. There are two remaining episodes of Daredevil: Born Again, and then Disney+ will dive into Andor season 2 by blowing through the 12 remaining episodes three-per-week.
Doctor Who is also coming back for a new season on Disney+, but perhaps the most exciting news for subscribers is that some of Hulu's content is coming to this streamer regardless of whether subscribers have both services. Clipped, Tell Me Lies, Interior Chinatown, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Reasonable Doubt, and White Collar will be available on Disney+ for no extra charge through at least the end of April. And if this becomes a regular thing, then more Hulu series may show up in May as well.

WandaVision creator reveals the series’ scrapped MCU cameo

Marvel Studios' WandaVision spawned countless fan theories when it originally aired in early 2021. Many of the theories that sprouted around it turned out to be incorrect. The most well-known among these is the belief certain viewers had that WandaVision's final episodes would reveal a red-skinned comic book figure named Mephisto as the show's secret villain. However, one strong rumor that also grew in the weeks leading up to WandaVision's finale back in March 2021 was that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) was going to make a surprise cameo appearance in the show.

That never ultimately came to pass, but it turns out that fans weren't entirely misguided in thinking it would. In a recent interview with Variety, WandaVision and Agatha All Along creator Jac Schaeffer revealed that Stephen Strange was at one point supposed to appear in WandaVision. When asked if she could divulge any scrapped post-credits scenes that she's written for Marvel over the years, Schaeffer responded, "Yes. I’ll tell you this one, because it’s been a long time, and so maybe the statute of limitations is up on it. Initially, Doctor Strange was going to appear in the tag for WandaVision."

Agatha All Along creator wrote multiple post-credits scenes for the Marvel series that weren’t used

Agatha All Along is one of the most widely liked titles that Marvel Studios has released in, well, a while. The WandaVision spinoff premiered in late September and did a lot to win over even some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's more skeptical fans across its nine episodes. While Agatha All Along does set up some exciting future possibilities for several of its characters, though, its finale doesn't include a single post-credits scene.

According to Agatha All Along creator Jac Schaeffer, that isn't because she didn't have any ideas for one. When asked about the series' lack of a post-credits tag, Schaeffer told Variety, "That’s a Marvel decision. I know nothing more than that." The writer and showrunner went on to reveal that she actually wrote multiple potential post-credits scenes for Agatha All Along, none of which were ultimately used because of behind-the-scenes decision-making by Marvel.
