What’s new on Showtime in March 2023

Showtime is one of the oldest and most respected cable networks around. Far from a mere rival to HBO, Showtime has aired many memorable shows and movies over the decades, including Homeland, Weeds, Ray Donovan, Shameless, Billions, and more. In recent years, it’s been home to such critically acclaimed series as Yellowjackets, starring Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, and Juliette Lewis, and Your Honor, starring Bryan Cranston and Hope Davis.

Even in the streaming era, Showtime, like its sister network Paramount+, continues to deliver hit after hit. With access to the massive Viacom library, the network airs such diverse programming as the Oscar-nominated sci-fi multiverse epic Everything Everywhere All at Once, the horror movie X, and the Tom Cruise classic Top Gun. The sheer amount of content can be overwhelming, which is why Digital Trends is here to highlight the network’s offering for each month.

The best new shows to stream on Netflix, Hulu, Max (HBO), and more
Elizabeth Moss in The Handmaid's Tale.

It is a very good week if you're looking for the best new shows to stream. Hulu debuted the season 6 premiere of The Handmaid's Tale, which had a nearly three-year wait between seasons. By that measure, suddenly Black Mirror's two-year gap between seasons doesn't seem so bad for Netflix. As for Doctor Who on Disney+, a standard year off is a lot rarer in the streaming age. But the Doctor is a time traveler, so some cheating may have been involved.
Some of the other recently debuted shows are also heating up the charts this week, including Amazon Prime's The Bondsman and Netflix's Devil May Cry. You can find these series and the rest of the best new shows to stream below. We update this list every Friday to keep you up to date on the most binge-worthy new additions.
When you're done here, check out the best new movies to stream this week, as well as the best shows on Netflix, the best shows on Hulu, the best new shows on Max, the best shows on Amazon Prime Video, and the best shows on Disney+.

Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Max, Disney+, Paramount+, Peacock, and Apple TV+ all have one thing in common: They're more expensive than they used to be. We can live with higher rates as long as new shows keep coming, but it's always a good idea to consider signing up for the ad-supported tiers, which are worth it if you can sit through a few commercials.

Samantha Morton in 2073.

After a slow start to April, it's... still a little slow on our list of the best movies to stream on Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Max (HBO), and other services. After a March that saw a slew of Oscar winners arrive on streaming platforms (including Anora, A Complete Unknown, and Wicked), April's biggest highlight to date is the SZA and Keke Palmer comedy, One of Them Days.

Nonetheless, we soldier on with four new additions to the list this week across three services. Headlined by a dystopian documentary on Max, check out this week's best new movies to stream.
We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

Lucy Hale in The Hating Game.

DreamWorks Animation's The Croods is currently perched on top of the most popular movies on Netflix. It's an OK movie, but we think you'll have more fun with No. 5 on the list, The Hating Game, a rom-com that recently arrived on Netflix. And if you're fans of the Netflix original series, Wednesday, you should definitely check out the 1991 Addams Family movie, which is back on the streamer after an extended absence.
Last week's picks, One of Them Days and The Dark Knight, are both hanging around in the top 10. You can find these films and the rest of the best movies on Netflix below. Remember to check this list every Friday morning when we update the lineup to give you the most enticing movie options available.
