Where to watch The Idol season finale: live stream the show

With the recent conclusion of Succession, HBO now has a void in the coveted Sunday night slot. Enter The Idol, the next HBO drama series with aspirations of becoming a buzzworthy show. Lily-Rose Depp stars as Jocelyn, an aspiring pop star looking to become the world’s top artist after a nervous breakdown ended her previous tour. While planning a comeback, Jocelyn meets Tedros, played by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, a self-help cult leader and nightclub owner who begins a tumultuous relationship with the singer.

Tesfaye co-created the series with Reza Fahim and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. The Idol had a splashy debut at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where it became a heated topic of discussion after critics panned the first two episodes. Yet, Levinson believes the attention will work in The Idol’s favor, with the potential to become the “biggest show of the summer.” Keep reading for information about the release date, time, channel, and plot for episode 5 of The Idol season 1, which is also the season finale of the show as well.

Levinson has a track record of creating shows that dominate pop culture, inspire discussions, and foster passionate fanbases. Look at Euphoria, one of the five most-watched HBO series in the network’s history. If you’re interested in shows that generate discourse and move the needle, The Idol has a chance to do both.

On Rotten Tomatoes, The Idol sits at 25% on the Tomatometer and holds a 27 Metascore on Metacritic. Despite the poor reviews, this show trends weekly on social media due to the graphic content and The Weeknd’s popularity.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (December 13-15)
A man looks ahead in Unbreakable.

The countdown to Christmas is speeding up, and you might just be over the holiday. I know I am. How many times can one watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation or drink eggnog? The holiday season is getting to be a bit much.

If you need an escape from all the caroling and good cheer, then you've come to the right place. The following list contains absolutely no X-mas-themed fun whatsoever. Instead, these movies have dead mermaids, World War II espionage, awful Philadelphia weather, a nude Batman lying on some jagged rocks, and Bruce Willis in a rain slicker. That sounds like a good weekend's worth of entertainment to me.

Christopher Reeves cries at a pivotal moment in a film.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of Christopher Reeve, the actor who portrayed DC's iconic superhero in Superman and its three sequels. There were other actors who played the role before Reeve, and even more followed after him. But Reeve embodied Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent in ways that no other live-action performer has been able to match since he hung up his cape after Superman IV: The Quest for Peace in 1987.

Reeve was also widely known for the horse-riding accident that left him paralyzed for the last nine years of his life. But it wasn't the accident or his iconic role that made Reeve a hero -- it was everything he did after suffering that life-changing tragedy. Earlier this year, Warner Bros. released Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story in theaters, and it's our pick for the one (HBO) Max movie that you need to watch in December. Now, it's time to go over the reasons why you should take the time to do so.

3 great British TV crime shows you need to watch in December 2024
A man stands in front of a priest in Dalgliesh.

The holidays are usually the time of mistletoe and holly, of Santa bringing presents and you drinking too much of that nasty eggnog one of your relatives made. But that doesn't mean what you watch has to be all holly and jolly.

This December, treat yourself to a good mystery (or three) with these three British crime shows that may have flown under your radar. One is a show featuring one of Britain's most beloved detectives, while another is a limited series that chronicles the downfall of one of Britain's most powerful politicians. And if you like your murder served with a dose of levity, then The Marlow Murder Club may be the program for you.
