The Princess bows to no one in Hulu’s new previews

This summer, the box office has been dominated by Top Gun: Maverick, dinosaurs, and an assortment of superheroes. But if you want a cure for the blockbuster blues, then The Princess may be the film you’ve been looking for.

20th Century Studios’ fantasy/comedy is skipping theaters entirely and going directly to Hulu later this week. And if the trailer for the film is any indication, it’s going to be a fun story to experience in the comfort of our own homes.

Joey King is playing the titular Princess, and she refuses to simply be married off for the good of the kingdom. That’s what is so refreshing about her. In the following video hosted by King, she explains some of the fighting strategies used by her character in the film.

In the next video, the Princess and her best friend, Linh, take on a band of miscreants that have no idea who they are facing. But they’re about to find out the hard way.

Lola Petticrew and Hazel Doupe in Say Nothing

Disney is working as hard as possible to fold Hulu into its other properties, but the streaming service remains one of the best places to go if you're looking for great shows. In addition to its impressive library of shows, the streamer continues to add new content, and much of it is pretty excellent.

If you're looking for a great show to watch this December, check out Say Nothing. The series, which is adapted from an excellent nonfiction book of the same name, chronicles The Troubles, the decades-long conflict between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland, from the perspective of members of the Irish Republican Army. The show is pretty heavy, but here are three reasons we recommend checking it out.

Elizabeth Perkins and Mara Wilson in Miracle on 34th Street.

The holiday season has come again, as familiar titles like Elf and The Polar Express rejoin the best Christmas movies on Hulu. Both of those films are now two decades old, and they rank among the perennial favorites of the season. While it would be easy to recommend those flicks, or even a dark horse holiday standard like Die Hard, our choice for the one Hulu movie that you have to watch in December is the 1994 remake of Miracle on 34th Street.

Director and writer George Seaton's original Miracle on 34th Street from 1947 is widely regarded as one of the greatest Christmas movies ever made. And while that film is a part of the 20th Century Studios movie library, it's not available on Hulu this year. You'll have to go to Disney+, Peacock, or Paramount+ if you're sticking to that version. By contrast, the 1994 version of Miracle on 34th Street hasn't garnered the same critical recognition despite being a very charming update of the original.

The Gorge trailer: Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller guard a dangerous secret in new Apple thriller
Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller point guns in The Gorge.

The year may not be over yet, but Apple TV+ already has its eyes turned toward the future. The streaming platform has unveiled today the first trailer for one of its biggest 2025 titles, The Gorge. The new film is director Scott Derrickson's highly anticipated follow-up to his 2022 hit horror movie The Black Phone, and it's shaping up to be yet another intriguing genre effort from the filmmaker.

The Gorge stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller as a pair of elite, highly trained snipers from different countries who are assigned positions in two guard towers that stand on opposite sides of a secret, shadowy gorge containing unknown horrors. When Teller's Levi asks whether his job is to "keep people from going in the gorge," he's told, "No, you need to stop what's in the gorge from coming out." In case that wasn't ominous enough, Levi's military contact, JD (Sope Dirisu), further informs him, "The gorge is the door to Hell, and we're standing guard at the gate."
